Howard M. Shelton, 69, of 610 Mill Street who drove taxis here for 22 years for the Yellow and Red Cab Co. died Monday in St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Lafayette. He was a member of the Elmdale Community Church. Born Feb 23, 1905 in Montgomery County, he was the son of Mervon and Nora Howard Shelton. He was married Dec 28, 1927 to Percyenne Rarig who survives. Other survivors include two sons, Laurence and Joseph; three daughters, Mrs. Maxine Elliott, Mrs. Marjorie Maxwell and Mrs. Rosemary Tanner; a brother, Clyde; two sisters, Mrs. May Bonebrake and Mrs. Ethel Cline, 20 grandchildren and a great grandchild, all in the Crawfordsville area. A son, Robert and a brother, Leland are deceased. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Hunt & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Swank officiating. Burial in Oakland Cemetery near Elmdale. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday.
